A giant's chair

The arrogant french man I am is amazed by the diversity of places we can find in the South-East of England. Last year, a new friend introduced me into the Wilderness Woods (website), a place I'd call experimental, open and well oiled. I'll leave you the pleasure of the discovery if you want to give them a visit.

For a week, Simon Page, a determined artist (Instagram), a cohort of volunteers and I have been working at sourcing, splitting, hewing and framing a giant's chair for little people to climb on.

Most of the tenons are through and wedged, so while it dries up, the chair can be tightened all along its life. Cedar and sweet chestnut lent us their limbs to build the 4m tall seat.

Maybe one day it'll be used by Gulliver, resting between two travels or as a growing frame for massive beanstalk that'd reach above the clouds...

For the moment, it stands on the side of the path, gently suggesting a touch and maybe a lie down.
